Audrey continues to love her preschool where each week they make something fabulous from the letter of the day. Her teacher has been great and Audrey is a hard worker. She can read the simple sight-word books that are sent home with her.

Moments like these are perhaps my very favorite as a mom.

"Winter" is when we are able to get out of doors here in the desert. So we have been taking advantage by going on hikes and to many, many parks.

Another southwest tradition...burritos a la babies.

So Grace has started an unwelcome tradition. Last February or March she ended up in the ER with double pneumonia. So when she was really sick at the end of January I was determined to take enough short steps so that we wouldn't end up with the long step of an ER trip again. But to no avail. After tramping to the Urgent Care Friday evening at the bequest of her physician by phone triage, she was misdiagnosed. Lots of medicine and a weekend of sleepless nights later Monday morning dawned and she was no better. By noon she was worse. At the 1 o'clock pediatrician's appointment she told me to head towards Banner Cardon's ER. 8 hours later we had a correct diagnosis (croupe and a severe ear infection), some IV fluids and medications going that turned a lethargic Grace back into my rambunctious little one. She wanted to walk after laying in my arms most of those 8 hours. But the poor little thing had been sick so long that after walking a ways with daddy, she fell over from weakness. I'm glad to say that by the end of the week she was back at full strength. Too bad Disneyland with the cousins started Thursday. She made it half the day Friday. :)

The best of childhood in Arizona.
