Happy Easter

It has been a wonderful holiday season for us, and preparing for a baby is a great way to feel the spirit of the Savior's atonement! I just want to chime in about how excited we are about spring. The first flowers we have come across this year are growing right outside our front door! They really are a great symbol of the victory of emerging out of the old and preparing for the new.

And, you will be happy to know, that Emily has carried the torch of the Johnson family, even while 9 months pregnant, and hosted an Easter picnic on Good Friday. Even though the blustery, cold wind forced us inside, the chicken salad sandwiches were delicious and Emily was a wonderful hostess. You are getting a glimpse of some of our friends and their kids. All our pictures of the Shorters, Hewards and Walkers turned out badly! Try their blogs for more pics!

Madison is our favorite little diva!

We really missed being a part of things in AZ, but we are grateful for all of our new friends!

Making It Real, Part II

We had our white coat ceremony on Thursday. It was a very tasteful ceremony that took place in the Yale Medical School's Historic Library. When I came to interview for the program, I was totally enchanted by the "Harry Potter"-style library; it is now one of my study rooms, and it feels nostalgic that we received our white coats there.

As we came forward a second-year student (who was our "big sib" before we came to New Haven) helped us don the white coat, after which we pinned them with a Yale School of Medicine crest. The picture shows me and Jeff Gagnon, my "big brother."

It is exciting that this means we get to start venturing onto the wards and seeing patients soon!

It is kind of fun that these events always end with "wine and cheese," a finger food collection that fortunately also includes chocolate-covered strawberries and sprite!

My Favorite Picture

Isn't she just stunning! 6 weeks and that baby is out of there! But who is counting? (Big links = work days.)

Eat Your Heart Out, Mythbusters

I know what you are thinking: "Shouldn't you have been studying for cardiology instead of pursuing your hobby as brilliant research scientist?" True, true. But when they said it is possible to over-suds a washer, I just couldn't let it go unchallenged.Myth: CONFIRMED
