She's here!

We have a little girl. 8lbs 7oz and change....don't know how long she is yet. She was born at 10:14PM. Her name is Audrey Lynn Streeter. 8s and 9s on her APGARs. Mother and baby are doing great. Stay tuned, we'll let you know when we're ready for phone calls. We'll post pictures as soon as we can. Thanks.

(I (tiff) heard her on the phone...she has a very healthy set of lungs!)

C-Section

We're off to the ER for the C-section. All will be good.

The Latest from Geoff

Cranked up pitocin.  We will evaluate one more time at 9 and will decide what next at that time.  We feel the strength of your prayers.  Hoping for active labor.  Still not quite.

Contraband

Here is a pearl for you- Em is not allowed to eat, so I am in charge of "contraband" acquisition. As we speak she is snacking away on pretzels. If we get caught...

Still going...

So many thanks to Tiffany for keeping things up to date on the blog. Our hospital is in the stone age for technology, and we figure by the time we carve something in a stone tablet and send it by mammoth the baby may already be 4 years old!

Emily is amazing, and has been extraordinarily patient with the whole situation. After 2 nights in the hospital, countless pokes, prods, interruptions, and all the rigamaroll that comes with a hospital stay, our little princess is still showing no intention of making her grand appearance!! They are starting a pitosin IV as we speak, and hope that last night's treatment will have made things more favorable for a true labor.

As to old wives' tales: they do NOT have to take a baby within 24 hours of breaking the bag of waters. According to our nurse this morning, "you can go for days as long as neither mom nor baby gets tachycardic." Great. Also, we are learning to dread the contraction pain scale. The bummer ones last night only register as a "2", which is discouraging.

Bottom line though: we have wonderful nurses, we feel the power of the prayer and faith of family and friends, we are ecstatic to have Em's mom in town, and eventually she HAS to come!! Thanks all for checking in! Off to the hospital!

Last update of the night

Here is the last update of the night...

Looks like a slow night. We are going to repeat the prep process of last night (I assume he means the cervadil to soften the cervix some more) to see if we can accomplish full labor tomorrow. Thanks for your prayers!

Update

No apparent progress.  Baby loves her mommy.  May cut pitocin for another med for a few hours?  Pray hard that Em makes more progress.  We are grateful for all the support.

Labor updates

This is actually Tiffany. Unfortunately, there is no access to Internet at the hospital where Geoff and Emily are. He has asked me to keep up the blog throughout this process to keep you updated. So here it goes...

The two of them went in last night to start Emily on medication to get things rolling. Then this morning (about 12 hours later) they started the Pitocin. Things are progressing well. They broke her water at about 4:30 this afternoon and she is about 3 cm dilated. For details and more updates stay tuned and we'll keep you posted. So exciting!!!

Amazing News

I know you are not getting the news you want, but check this out from Church News:

"Plans to build two new temples in Arizona, one in the Gila Valley and the other in Gilbert, were announced by President Thomas S. Monson."

If the rumor mill is true, it will be about 2 miles from our house!! (At Greenfield and Pecos for those of you who know the area!)

It's hospital time!

After 7 and 1/2 months of purely classroom learning, Geoff is now venturing into the tangible part of becoming a PA. Once a week he will be in the hospital following a medical resident and doing case studies. He will also take a patient history and do a physical exam every two weeks. Doing these case studies is really making what he has learned come together. This is a shot of him on his way out the door for the first day in the hospital. Am I biased? He's so good-looking!

Dad saves the day

For those of you who can relate to the "nesting" phenomenon of pregnancy, you will understand the following. I've never had a cleaner apartment. We've cleaned and re-cleaned as the pending arrival of our little one approached. Then, graduate housing decided to do a project in our apartment complex the very week of our due date. It meant alot of the kitchen cabinets had to be emptied and the kitchen would be off limits for about a week. With our due date on Tuesday, Geoff asked that they change the timing for our apartment. They promised they would fast track ours and finish Monday. Well, Tuesday night it was apparent there was no hurry happening and this pregnant lady was going crazy. Surely the baby would arrive tonight and to what? A disaster! Dad could tell that panic was starting to ensue. So, unbeknownst to me, he wrote this note for the workers the next morning. And it worked! The very next day they finished by 3 PM and I spent the next 8 hours of that day cleaning. Ahhhhhh, the relief. The rest of the apartments in our complex were not finished until Friday afternoon. Thanks dad! You're the very best!!!
Of course, Murphy's law... since we got all cleaned up she still is kicking around in her warm jacuzzi. But at least her mom is still sane. :) Hee-hee.

Rocking Chair

While still in Arizona, Geoff and I (being the scavengars that we are) took this wooden rocking chair off the side of the road as it was being thrown out. Geoff ripped the old cushions off and his fabulous mom made these new cushions for it. We are so excited to have somewhere to rock the new bambino!

The nursery

Okay, so we have been very remisce in posting lately. Probably because we keep thinking we're going to have someone soooo much more interesting to post about soon. But, it has been almost a month, so we'll give an update. Here is a small portion of the nursery. (Note the empty waiting crib). Geoff spent his spring break painting it. As you can see the lower portion of the wall is tan. The top is pink. We'll show that off when the baby comes, because I've hung her name on the wall above the crib and that is a mystery yet to be revealed...
